Read, Read, Read, And Don't Be afraid. (Dry fasting)
by Dry_Faster
About a month ago I wanted very much to do dry fasting over water fasting (don't really know why). I had read all I could find on the internet about all the different types of fasting.
So, I decided since I will be in this long term as I have health issues + obesity, that I would combine dry fasting with the sun up to sundown method. For seven days I dry fasted sun up to sun down ( 6AM to 6pm). Then at the 6pm-8pm hour relax and I would allow myself dinner, forcing myself to eat slow.
I ate anything I wanted with attention to portion control of course plus allowing myself liquid (no sugar tea, water, lemon water after 6pm). The first day wasn't so bad, I think because I was so psyched. Days 2,3, and 4 were tough, hunger,thirst and weakness.Over this period I found myself QUICKLY desiring healthy foods and fish over beef.
PLEASE, IF YOU CHOOSE TO COMBINE DRY FASTING WITH A LIGHT DINNER***DO NOT***RESRICT FLUIDS AFTER 6PM***AS YOUR BODY NEEDS HYDRATION TO DIGEST FOOD!! Don't overdo it though, drink according to thirst. It's strange, some of my bad eating habits transferred over into thirst.
I would wake up in the middle of the night thirsty and drink glass of distilled water. If I woke up BEFORE 6am I would have sugarless tea (dry 6am-6pm). I was house cleaning for a relative in the hospital, and was able to give in to weakness and lie down, sometimes falling asleep ( my body probably needed the rest(bad sleep habits).
Something wonderful happened from day 3 to 4,my adema swelled legs shrank to a 1/3 of their size, mental clarity much improved on day 5 and I felt a physcal and spiritual strength return. My best advise is (I'm not a doctor);
research( you would not build anything without figuring out the cost first), Figure out what will work best for you and do not fear. Remeber you are "fearfully and wonderfully made" , Jesus said "I will never leave you,nor forsake you"
People do not die from fasting in and of itself. They die from 1)lack of preparation 2) extremism (God will honor your desire if you are faithful even in the small things), and failure to change their lifestyle. Start small and keep the faith.
You can do it!
